There are regional associations in Finnish villages, city districts and municipalities through which to influence one’s own environment. You may want to contact local politicians, too, if you notice a development threatening your area or if you want to improve your environment with, for example, planters, small-scale farming, workshops, or similar activity. The local newspaper and local groups in social media are channels through which you can try influence the development of your neighbourhood.
- You can contact the municipality to initiate fruit trees planted on a vacant lot, cargo bikes for public use, or becoming a carbon-neutral HINKU municipality.
- You can try influence the energy company owned by the municipality (e.g. to replace fossil fuels with renewable forms of energy).
- If you have experience in local influence, share your knowhow to those less experienced.
